Mark Leiter Doesn't Expect to Keep Pitching Poorly for Yankees

Leiter Struggles in Spring Training

Mark Leiter has not had the best spring training with the New York Yankees. The right-hander has a 6.00 ERA in three starts, and he has allowed 10 hits and six walks in 9.0 innings. Leiter's struggles have been a concern for the Yankees, who are hoping that he can be a part of their rotation this season.

Leiter Acknowledges Struggles

"I'm not pitching very well right now," Leiter said. "I'm not making good pitches, and I'm not getting ahead in the count. I need to be better."

Leiter's struggles are not entirely unexpected. The 31-year-old has a career ERA of 4.66, and he has never been a particularly consistent pitcher.

However, the Yankees are hoping that Leiter can turn things around. The team signed him to a one-year, $1.5 million contract in the offseason, and they are hoping that he can provide some depth to their rotation.

Yankees Still Believe in Leiter

"We still believe in Mark," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. "He's a good pitcher, and we know he can be a valuable part of our team."

Leiter is scheduled to make one more start in spring training. The Yankees will then make a decision on whether to keep him in the rotation or send him to the bullpen.
