Michigan State's Spartans and QB Tony Jefferson Take the Over

Michigan State Spartans quarterback Tony Jefferson is taking the over on his passing yards this season. Jefferson, who threw for 2,500 yards last season, set a goal of surpassing 3,000 yards in 2023.

The Spartans' offense is expected to be more pass-heavy this season under new offensive coordinator Jay Johnson and could exceed that goal.

Reasons

  • Jefferson has a strong arm and can make all the throws.
  • The Spartans have a solid running game that will help to keep defenses honest.
  • The Spartans' receiving corps is led by Jayden Reed, considered one of the top wide receivers in the country, and Keon Coleman, who missed last season due to injury.
  • The Spartans' schedule is favorable, with only three games against teams currently ranked in the top 25.

If Jefferson can reach his goal of 3,000 passing yards, he will be one of the most productive quarterbacks in the Big Ten. He will also be a candidate for All-American honors and could be in the mix for a Heisman Trophy.
