Porzingis Returns, Scores 20 in Celtics Win

Brown Drops 21 in Game 2 Win

Boston Celtics stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown put together another impressive performance to lead the Celtics to a 114-106 victory in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks.

Tatum finished with a team-high 29 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Brown added 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. The duo combined to shoot 20-of-39 from the field, including 7-of-17 from three-point range.

The Celtics also got a big boost from the return of Kristaps Porzingis, who missed the first two games of the series with an ankle injury. Porzingis finished with 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 blocks in just 25 minutes of action.

The Mavericks were led by Luka Dončić, who had a game-high 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. However, the rest of the Mavericks' supporting cast struggled to keep up, with only Tim Hardaway Jr. (16 points) and Dorian Finney-Smith (12 points) reaching double figures.

With the win, the Celtics take a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday night in Boston.

Conclusion

The Celtics' star duo of Tatum and Brown has been unstoppable so far in the playoffs, and they showed no signs of slowing down in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. With Porzingis also back in the lineup, the Celtics look like the team to beat.
