Anadolu Efes Coach

Ataman Praises Mijatovic, Assesses Panathinaikos Season

Coach of the Year Speaks on Former Team and New Appointment

"It was a successful season for us overall," said Ataman. "We won the Euroleague title and I was named Coach of the Year."

Ergin Ataman, the mastermind behind the success of Anadolu Efes over the past four years, has heaped praise on new head coach Tomislav Mijatovic and given an assessment of his former team's season.

Ataman, who was named Coach of the Year after leading Anadolu Efes to the Euroleague title in 2020-21, said that he was impressed with what Mijatovic had done at Panathinaikos.

"He's a very good coach," Ataman said. "He's done a great job with Panathinaikos and I'm sure he will continue to do well with Anadolu Efes."

Ataman also spoke about his own team's season, saying that it was a "success" despite failing to defend their Euroleague title.

"We had a lot of injuries this season, but we still managed to finish in the top four," Ataman said. "I'm proud of my players for what they achieved."

Ataman is now looking forward to the new season and is confident that Anadolu Efes can challenge for the Euroleague title again.

"We have a good team and we're hungry to win," Ataman said. "I'm confident that we can challenge for the title again next season."
