Mental Health Awareness Month Australia

World Mental Health Month Calendar for October

Mental Health Month Launched

Mental Health Australia (MHA) has launched its October 2021 calendars for Mental Health Month ahead of World Mental Health Day on 10 October.

Calendar includes daily ideas for all Australians.

World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. Mental Health Australia plays an important role in coordinating WMHD.

MHA CEO Dr Leanne Beagley said there are a host of activities planned to celebrate the month and World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10 October, starting with a free Mindfest online event on 1 October.

Mindfest Online is an interactive digital experience that will feature inspiring speakers, expert panels, creative performances, and much more. It is free to register and attend.

Other activities planned for the month include:

  • The launch of a new Mental Health Stigma Busting Poster Pack
  • A webinar on how to be a mental health ally
  • A social media campaign to raise awareness of mental health issues
  • A range of community events all over Australia

“World Mental Health Day is an important opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues and reduce the stigma associated with them,” Dr Beagley said.

“We encourage everyone to get involved in the activities planned for the month and to start a conversation about mental health. By working together, we can create a more mentally healthy Australia for everyone.”
